Northwest's Visiting Artists series continues Monday, Nov. 5, through Friday, Dec. 7, with Drawing With/In/On: Clay, a regional juried show sponsored by the University's Department of Art.

Ceramic artist and art administrator Anna Calluori Holcombe, director of the School of Art and Art History at the University of Florida-Gainesville's College of Fine Arts will serve as juror. Calluori Holcombe will present a lecture and slide show at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5, in room 244 of the Olive DeLuce Fine Arts Building.

Show entries will be on display in the gallery space on the first floor of DeLuce through Dec. 7. The exhibition will feature works in contemporary ceramics informed by a multidisciplinary approach to both materials and techniques.

Drawing on clay has played an important role in the history of ceramics as fine art, and the Northwest juried show will explore the ways in which contemporary ceramicists are continuing the tradition of mark-making on clay.

Calluori Holcombe is a working artist whose creations have been widely shown nationally and internationally. Her academic career has focused on teaching, higher education administration and gallery management.

Before moving to the University of Florida, Calluori Holcombe served as head of Kansas State University's art department, where she was a full professor.

At Kansas State she led a comprehensive art department offering bachelor's degrees in art history and art education and bachelor's and master's degrees in ceramics, painting, sculpture, metals, printmaking, visual communications and photography.

In 1997, Calluori Holcombe was named a fellow of the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts for her accomplishments as president. She has also served on the International Committee of the College Art Association.
