Nisha Bharti Mac Mohi
Nisha Bharti, a senior dietetics/marketing major from Lexington was crowned Northwest Homecoming queen last week. The Homecoming king was Mac Mohi, a junior marketing major from Cameron.
Bharti and Mohi were crowned Thursday, Oct. 25, following opening night of the traditional Student Variety Show. They were then chauffeured into downtown Maryville during Saturday morning's parade before being introduced at the football game between the Northwest Bearcats and the Washburn University Ichabods, which Northwest won 28-27.
The pair was elected by the student body from a field of five men and five women. Each of the candidates had been nominated earlier by a student organization or Greek-letter society. Bharti and Mohi were both placed on the ballot by the Northwest chapter of Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority
All royalty nominees were required to have a 2.7 grade-point average at the time of their selection. Campaigning is prohibited during the run-up to Homecoming Saturday.
Photographs of the candidates, along with information about their academic and co-curricular interests, were posted by the Office of Campus Activities for student review, and students cast their votes online via Northwest's CatPAWS Web services network.
In addition to Bharti and Mohi, the 2007 Homecoming court consisted of:
