The Department of Psychology, Sociology and Counseling will host the third annual Missouri Undergraduate Psychology Conference from 8:30 a.m. until 4:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, on the third floor of the J.W. Jones Student Union.
"This is an excellent opportunity for undergraduate students to present their research, increase their knowledge of the discipline and interact with peers from other institutions," said Dr. Alisha Francis, one of the conference organizers.
Dr. David Myers (www.davidmyers.org/Brix?pageID=2), professor of psychology at Hope College, will deliver the keynote address at 11 a.m. in the union ballroom. Myers' numerous publications including the textbook used for all general psychology courses taught at Northwest.
Myers' talk, "The Scientific Pursuit of Happiness," is free and open to the public. Those wishing to attend the following luncheon must submit a paid registration. A full conference schedule and registration information is available at www.nwmissouri.edu/dept/mupc/index.htm.
A second conference speaker, Dr. Tim Crowley, Northwest's director of counseling services, will give a presentation titled "Finding Your Inner Strength and Overcoming Life's Challenges" at 3:15.
