Tower choir joins Kansas chorus in shared concert

Northwest's Tower Choir will join the Gardner-Edgerton (Kan.) High School Concert Choir on stage at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, in the University's Charles Johnson Theater.

The shared performance is free and open to the public and will embrace a variety of choral styles.

Dr. Stephen Town, professor of music, and graduate assistant Elizabeth Robbins will share conducting duties during the Tower Choir portion of the program. Featured accompanists include Mary Noel of Maryville and Dr. Anthony Olson of the Northwest music faculty.

The 45-voice Gardner-Edgerton Concert Choir is under the direction of Todd Burd. Now in his fifth year at the school, Burd has performed professionally in both Europe and the United States and holds a post-graduate certificate in voice from Trinity College-London.

Northwest's Tower Choir has been an important and prestigious part of the University's musical tradition for many years. Recent performance highlights included a by-invitation performance at the Washington National Cathedral during an extended spring tour that featured appearances in Washington, D.C., Maryland and New York.

The shared performance with the Gardner-Edgerton choir is part of the on-going Northwest Guest Choral Ensembles Concert Series
