The Northwest Missouri State University Board of Regents will meet in open session at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, in the J.W. Jones Student Union Boardroom.
Consideration items before the board include:
- A staff proposal recommending construction of a new facilities services building to replace obsolete or reassigned office and storage areas housing the offices of Environmental Services, Campus Safety and Purchasing.
The buildings now used for these functions support a variety of maintenance and transportation functions and include the lower level of the Valk building, which is being remodeled into faculty offices and classrooms for the Department of History, Humanities, Philosophy and Political Science.
- A staff proposal recommending approval of a contractor to carry out the Valk building lower-level renovation project.
- A staff proposal for a new position: "university architect and sustainability coordinator."
- A staff proposal to request legislative clarification with regard to the composition of the Northwest Board of Regents.
- Election of board officers.
- Discussion/presentation regarding the 20th anniversary of Northwest's Electronic Campus and the information technology plan for 2007-2011.
- Discussion/proposed vote on Memorandum of Agreement with North Central Missouri College regarding articulation and related matters.
In 1987 Northwest became the first public university in the United States to implement a campuswide computer network available to all students and faculty.
Following its regular open meeting, the board will adjourn and reconvene in closed session pursuant to exemptions to the state open meetings requirement as specified in R.S.MO 610.021. The tentative agenda includes:
- Pending or threatened litigation (exempt from open meetings requirements pursuant to R.S.MO 610.021[1]).
- Real estate matters (exempt from open meetings requirements pursuant to R.S.MO 610.021 [2]).
- Personnel matters (exempt from open meetings requirements pursuant to R.S.MO 610.021 [3]).
