Ten Bearcats vie for Homecoming royalty honors

Northwest's 2007 Homecoming royalty will be crowned Thursday, Oct. 25, following opening night of the student Variety Show in the Performing Arts Center.

The Variety Show begins its two-night run at 7 p.m., and the coronation ceremony is expected to begin around 9 p.m.

Five queen candidates and five king candidates were selected by a group of on-campus and off-campus judges. All nominees are required to have a 2.7 grade-point average at the time of their selection and are prohibited from campaigning.

Photographs of the candidates, along with information about their academic and co-curricular interests, are posted by the Office of Campus Activities for student review. Students will cast their votes for king and queen online via the CatPAWS Web services network Oct. 15-19.

Following their coronation, the Homecoming king and queen will ride in the Homecoming parade on Saturday, Oct. 27, before being introduced at the football game between the Bearcats and the Washburn University Ichabods that afternoon in Bearcat Stadium.

Jessica Range, a senior public relations/marketing major from Okoboji, Iowa, nominated by the Northwest chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America.
Megan Victor, a junior secondary education/social studies major from Omaha, Neb., nominated by Sigma Phi Epsilon.
Ashley Knierim, a senior management/marketing major from Tarkio nominated by the Student Senate.
Nisha Bharti, a senior dietetics/marketing major from Lexington nominated by Sigma Sigma Sigma.
Abby Browning, a senior industrial psychology major from St. Joseph nominated by Phi Mu.

King

Stefano Duley, a junior financial services/financial management major from Overland Park, Kan., nominated by the Interfraternity Council.
Jim Howe, a senior pre-professional zoology major from Omaha, Neb., nominated by Alpha Sigma Alpha.
Christopher Pottier, a junior management/marketing major from Gower nominated by Blue Key.
Mac Mohi, a junior marketing major from Cameron nominated by Sigma Sigma Sigma.
Eric Niece, a senior theatre performance major from Maysville nominated by Alpha Psi Omega.
