Family Day visitors to sail on 'Sea of Green'

The football game against the Southwest Baptist Bearcats
begins at 6 p.m., and festivities at Bearcat Stadium will
include the introduction of the Northwest Family of the Year.

The parents and families of Northwest students will wear their Bearcat colors proudly the weekend of Saturday, Sept. 29, as this year's traditional Family Day event celebrates the "Sea of Green."

Family Day actually embraces a full weekend of activities for Northwest students and their families, including Friday's (Sept. 28) premier event, the Alumni Awards Banquet.

Seven distinguished members of the Northwest family will be honored at this year's banquet, which begins with a 6 p.m. social in the J.W. Jones Student Union Ballroom followed by dinner at 6:45 p.m. The awards presentation starts at 8 p.m.

To purchase tickets, call the Office of University Advancement at 660.562.1248 or email alumni@nwmissouri.edu. Registration also is available online at www.nwmissouri.edu/alumni/events/awards_registration.htm. Tickets are $30 per person or $200 for a table of eight. Reservations will be accepted through Friday, Sept. 21, on a first-come, first-served basis.

Saturday's events climax with the football game against the Southwest Baptist Bearcats, which begins at 6 p.m. in Bearcat Stadium. Festivities will include the introduction of the Northwest Family of the Year.

The winning family must have an undergraduate student currently enrolled at Northwest and will be chosen from applications submitted to the Office of Admissions no later than 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19. Paper applications are available at the Mabel Cook Admissions and Visitors Center and the Student Services Center in the Administration Building.

The Bearcat Zone, Northwest's pre-home-game tailgate party, gets underway at 4 p.m. in College Park across the street to the north of Bearcat Stadium. Meal cost is $5.

Families and students wishing to purchase souvenirs and Bearcat logo clothing to commemorate the day are welcome to do so from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, at the Bearcat Bookstore in the J.W. Jones Student Union.

Jim Wand, hypnotist, 8 p.m., Charles Johnson Theater. Admission is free, but tickets, available at the door, are required. Sponsored by the Student Activities Council.
Fall Fest, Friday evening, Sept. 28, all residence halls.
