BRUSH: Beautifying Residences Using Student Help

Began in 2004 by Aleta Hubbard, B.R.U.S.H. is a project geared toward allowing Northwest students to give back to the community of Maryville. Throughout the year, applications are taken from Maryville residents to participate in the event which will help improve the value of their homes. After a review process, several houses are selected based upon need of improvements as well as capability of individual homeowners of completing the renovations.

Northwest volunteers spend the better part of a weekend beautifying residences in the community, working on landscaping and painting. Students also get the opportunity to meet others with similar interests in volunteering, allowing them to make new friends. In addition, the volunteer experience has helped to lead to greater relationships between Maryville residents and the Northwest Missouri State University community.
