African Friends Association

AFA’s objectives are to promote better understanding and appreciation of the diverse cultures represented by the African students at Northwest and to foster friendship and tolerance within the Northwest family. They strive to promote cultural, educational, and social activities that represent Africa.

Alliance of Black Collegians

The purpose of ABC is to promote University togetherness and awareness of the African-American culture and history. Cultural diversity is of utmost importance. ABC is open to all Northwest students who have a desire to work for togetherness and equality. The group is involved in such activities as the Martin Luther King Day Celebration and the Big Brother-Big Sister program.

Asian Student Association (ASA)

The Asian Student Association promotes an understanding and tolerance towards the Chinese culture, language, and life by coordinating efforts from other interested groups. Members strive for a more interesting, cooperative and active social life while encouraging others to share their culture.

Cultural Exchange Club provides the opportunity to gain proficiency of the Spanish language, traditions and cultural awareness of Spanish speaking countries.

Hispanic American Leadership Organization (HALO)

The purpose of HALO is to promote and maintain a healthy and positive environment for not only Hispanic students, but for any student who would like to learn more about the Hispanic culture. The annual events held by HALO include Hispanic Heritage Month, La Fiesta Latina, Shake your Bon-Bon, a Regional Empowerment Conference, and the USHLI National Conference.


International Student Organization (ISO)

ISO’s purpose is to promote better relationships among students of different cultural and ethnic backgrounds. Membership is open to all students and faculty who share an interest.
