SBU blanks Northwest, 5-0


RED OAK, Iowa – The Northwest Missouri State women’s tennis team fell in MIAA action Sunday, 5-0 to No. 35 Southwest Baptist as the match was moved due to forecasted rain and high winds in the Maryville area.

Northwest fell to 11-9 on the season and 6-3 in the MIAA while SBU improved to 17-1 overall and 10-0 in league action.

It was the purple Bearcats who dominated the court Sunday sweeping all three doubles matches to take a 3-0 lead before singles.

SBU quickly earned wins at No. 1 and No. 2 singles to seal the win. Camila Quesada fell in the closest match for Northwest, 6-3, 6-4 against Fanni Varga.

Northwest closes out regular season action Wednesday at Truman State before heading to the MIAA Championships next weekend. Action in Kirksville is scheduled for a 3 p.m. start.
