Bearcats win 30th straight match vs. Griffons
ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Although it wasn’t a shutout, the Northwest Missouri State women’s tennis team earned its 30th straight victory over Missouri Western in dominating fashion, 8-1 Wednesday night.
The Bearcats improved to 5-3 on the season and 2-2 in league play as the Griffons fell to 3-10 and 0-6 in league action. The one streak that was snapped Wednesday was the Bearcats string of seven straight shutouts of the Griffons.
The Bearcats rolled to a 3-0 lead with wins at all three doubles positions before dominating Missouri Western in singles play.
Camila Quesada improved to 5-2 at No. 1 singles with a 6-3, 6-0 win.
At No. 4 singles, Gisela Font was also impressive taking a 6-2, 6-1 victory for her fourth straight victory.
Impending winter weather has forced postponement of Thursday match against Fort Hays State. The next scheduled action for Northwest is March 23 at Midwestern State as the Bearcats start spring break with four matches in four days.
