Bearcat women fight off UMSL in win
MARYVILLE, Mo. – The Northwest Missouri State women’s tennis team rebounded from last weekend’s tough loss with a thrilling 5-4 victory over Missouri-St. Louis at the St. Joseph Indoor Tennis Complex.
The Bearcats improved to 2-2 on the season while the Tritons fell to 1-2 overall. Northwest returns to MIAA action Friday at Nebraska-Kearney in the Lopers conference opener while the Bearcats stand at 0-1 in league action.
Northwest jumped out to a 2-1 lead in doubles action, however UMSL would fight the Bearcats for every point.
The Bearcats would jump out with Camila Quesada notched her second win of the second at No. 1 singles with a 6-4 win.
Stephanie Mannix continued her solid play at No. 5 singles with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Chandler Duchaine to help close out the Bearcat victory.
