Bearcats claim 9-0 win from Bulldogs
MARYVILLE, Mo. – It was an emotional senior day for the Northwest Missouri State women’s tennis squad as they pulled together a complete performances to claim a 9-0 win over MIAA rival Truman State on Sunday at Frank Grube Courts.
The Bearcats saw their record move to 7-8 on the season and were able to stay perfect in league play at 2-0. Northwest quickly returns to action on Wednesday as they face former MIAA foe Nebraska-Omaha in non-conference action in Omaha.
The Northwest doubles tandems swept through the Bulldogs led by Alexis Bartek and Camila Quesada at No. 1 doubles winning 8-2. Leslee Feldhaus teamed with Erika Leston to give the senior a Senior Day victory also winning 8-2.
Leston would stay perfect on senior day as she won at No. 2 singles 6-1, 6-0.
The rest of the Bearcats singles lineup would cruise to victories as well as the only challenge Northwest faced was at the No. 6 position. However, Leslee Feldhaus fought off Kati Austin 7-6 (7-5) and dominated the final set 6-0 to give the Bearcats the 9-0 win.
