Bearcat women drop close match to Lions
TULSA, Okla. – The Northwest Missouri State fell to the 10th-ranked team in the South Central Region, Arkansas-Fort Smith, 6-3 in regional women’s tennis action Friday from La Fortune Park.
The Bearcats fell to 5-7 on the season as they return to action on Saturday. Northwest will face Newman at 9 a.m. before closing out the day with Dallas Baptist.
Arkansas-Fort Smith took control sweeping doubles action with 8-5 wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions. The Lions would also win at No. 1 doubles 8-6.
Camila Quesada picked up the first win for the Bearcats with a 6-4, 6-3 victory at No. 1 singles.
Alexis Bartek also picked up a win at No. 3 singles to keep Northwest in the match with a 6-2, 7-6 win. However the Lions nabbed wins at No. 4 and No. 5 singles to close out the win.
Emily Hoffman picked up a win at No. 6 singles playing a pro-set match and winning 8-1, however the Lions had already clinched the match.
