Women drop pair at home
MARYVILLE, Mo. – The Northwest Missouri State women’s tennis team dropped a pair of matches to nationally ranked foes over the weekend falling to #14 Cameron 7-1 and #37 Drury 7-2 at the Grube and High Rise Tennis Courts.
The Bearcats saw their record even at 3-3 after dropping both matches Thursday and Saturday.
The lone win against the Aggies came at the No. 1 double position as Camilia Quesada and Alexis Bartek were 8-2 winners. Cameron notched 8-5 and 8-6 wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.
In singles action the Aggies swept five of the six matches as one was left unfinished.
On Saturday against No. 37 Drury the Bearcats faced similar luck against the perennial national power. The Bearcats were able to take a point in No. 3 doubles and No. 5 singles action, but the Lady Panthers would dominate the other matches to secure the win.
Kim Ho won twice for Northwest, first in No. 3 doubles as she teamed with Emily Hoffman for an 8-6 win. Ho also won at No. 5 singles taking a 6-3, 6-3 victory for the Bearcats only points against Drury.
Northwest continue its tough stretch as they hit the road for non-conference match with national power Abilene Christian. The Bearcats and Wildcats will start action at 10 a.m. Tuesday morning at the Country Club Plaza Tennis Complex in Kansas City.
