Northwest falls in tournament final
KANSAS CITY, Mo.-For the second time this season the Northwest Missouri State women's tennis team was defeated by Southwest Baptist. This time around it came in the MIAA Tournament final Saturday morning as the Bearcats fell 5-2.
Things looked good early for the fourth-seeded Bearcats as they won two of the three doubles matches. The team of Erika Leston and Leslee Feldhaus won their matchup 8-6, while the duo of Sureena Weir and Alison Wulff won theirs 8-3.
Northwest (13-13) couldn't get over the hump in the singles portion of the match as Southwest Baptist won four straight to begin singles play to win the match. Both Alexis Bartek and Weir were leading their matches however when play was stopped.
Northwest will now wait and see to find out if it made the NCAA regional tournament or not. Regional play begins May 1.
