Bearcats close out MIAA schedule with win
MARYVILLE, Mo.-The Northwest Missouri State women's tennis team closed out its regular season on Monday afternoon as the Bearcats defeated conference foe Nebraska Omaha 7-2 from the Frank Grube Tennis Courts.
Northwest (11-12, 6-2 MIAA) was victorious in all but one singles match and also won two-out-of-three in doubles play. With all five of the Bearcats' singles victories came in straight sets.
Erika Leston and Sureena Weir both won their matches 6-1 and 6-0. Alexis Bartek was victorious in her match 6-0, 6-3 while Emily Hoffman and Ashleigh Kaberline also picked up singles wins with 6-2, 6-4 and 6-3, 6-3 wins, respectively.
The duo of Bartek and Hoffman squeaked out a 9-8 doubles win in the match. While the team of Weir and Wulff also won their doubles match 8-2.
Northwest finishes the season with five straight wins in conference play and will head to Kansas City later this week for the MIAA Championship Tournament. The Bearcats will play on Thursday.
