Northwest snaps losing streak with 6-3 win
MARYVILLE, Mo.-The Northwest Missouri State women's tennis team snapped its three-match losing streak on Wednesday afternoon as the Bearcats defeated Rockhurst 6-3 from Frank Grube Courts.
Northwest (9-11) got strong showings from Sureena Weir and Emily Hoffman as they both won their singles matches in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4 and 6-0, 7-6, respectively. Alexis Bartek and Ashleigh Kaberline also picked up victories in singles competition for Northwest. Bartek won her match 3-6, 6-1 and 6-3 while Kaberline came from behind to win 3-6, 6-4 and 6-4.
The Bearcats took two-of-three in doubles play. The team of Bartek and Hoffman won their matchup 8-5. The duo of Weir and Alison Wulff were victorious in their meeting 8-3.
The Bearcats return to action this weekend for a pair of matches. Northwest will face travel to Tahlequah, Okla., to face off against Northeastern State and Southeastern Oklahoma State in a pair of regional matches.
