Northwest evens record with win over Newman
TULSA, Okla.-The Northwest Missouri State women's tennis squad evened its record on the season with a 7-2 victory over Newman University. The Bearcats won five-of-six singles matches and two-out-of-three in doubles play.
Alexis Bartek defeated Newman's Jessica Brown 6-1 and 6-1 to improve her record on the season to 7-3 in duals. Rocio Rapallo Fernandez won her match 6-2, 6-1. Ashleigh Kaberline was also victorious 6-1 and 6-2, while Sureena Weir (6-3, 6-2) and Emily Hoffman (7-6, 6-1) were winners in their singles' matches.
The doubles team of Bartek and Hoffman shutout Newman's Ashley Dunham and Allison Gerber 8-0 and the team of Weir and Allison Wulf were victorious 8-4 in their doubles matchup.
Northwest (6-6) will play a pair of neutral-site matches on Saturday as the Bearcats face Arkansas-Fort Smith and Dallas Baptist.
