Midwestern State bests Northwest 5-0
ST. JOSEPH, Mo.-Northwest Missouri State's women's tennis team dropped a 5-0 decision to No. 50 Midwestern State Friday at the St. Joseph Tennis and Swim Club. Midwestern State (11-4) is ranked eighth in the regional rankings while Northwest (4-6) is 10th.
The Mustangs won all three doubles matches by a combined score of 24-8. Janzen van Rensburg then earned a 7-5, 6-0 win against Northwest's Erika Leston at number one singles while Leah Roberts got past Sureena Weir at number three singles. The match was stopped after the fifth and deciding point was earned.
The Bearcats return to St. Joseph and to MIAA play Saturday with a 10 a.m. dual with league-newcomer Lincoln (0-5). It will be Northwest's seventh match in as many days.
