Northwest falls to Division I ‘Roos
KANSAS CITY, Mo.-Sureena Weir's 7-5, 6-1 win against Chelsea Horner at number three singles accounted for Northwest Missouri State's lone point in a 6-1 loss to Missouri-Kansas City Wednesday at The Plaza Tennis Center.
Weir also teamed with Alison Wulff to defeat Gabriela Pintos and Jillian Yakominich, 9-7, at number three doubles. UMKC (6-10) won the other two doubles matches to earn the doubles point. The match was played using Division I rules, thus doubles accounted for one point.
The Kangaroos' five wins in singles play were all by straight sets. Northwest (3-4) returns to conference play Thursday with a 4 p.m. match against Truman in Kirksville.
