Southwest Baptist rallies past Northwest
MARYVILLE, Mo.-Northwest Missouri State took a 2-1 advantage into doubles play but won one of six singles matches in a 6-3 loss to Southwest Baptist Tuesday on the Frank Grube and High Rise Courts. Both teams are 1-2 in MIAA play.
Northwest (4-8) earned points at number one and number three doubles with 8-5 wins. Erika Leston and Leslee Feldhaus teamed for their first win at the one position. Sureena Weir and Alison Wulff have won three straight matches from the three position.
The Bearcats' third point came in a three-set win by Alexis Bartek against Adrienn Kovacs, 5-7, 6-4, 10-7. Bartek (12-5) has won three in a row and five of her last six.
Southwest Baptist (4-8) earned three of its five singles victories in straight sets. Mehak Singh defeated Leston, 6-1, 6-2, at the top position. Jenna Hendrickson beat Northwest's Emily Hoffman, 5-7, 7-6, 10-6, at the five spot. It was Hoffman's first loss of the spring season (6-1).
