Tennis runs record even
MARYVILLE, Mo.-Northwest Missouri State's women's tennis team won its second match in a row following a 7-2 decision against William Jewell Monday on the Frank Grube Courts. The Bearcats are 3-3 overall.
Northwest won two of three doubles matches and five of six head-to-head matchups in dropping the Cardinals, an NAIA program, to 7-5. William Jewell has lost its last three.
Bearcat sophomore Emily Hoffman improved to 6-0 in singles play following a 6-4, 6-0 win against Jaimie Baker at number five singles. Hoffman also teamed with freshman Alexis Bartek to beat Baker and Hana Lindbloom, 8-4, at number two doubles. Hoffman and Bartek, when paired together, are 3-0 in doubles this spring.
Northwest won all five singles matches in straight sets. Senior Sureena Weir earned her fifth straight singles victory with a 6-2, 6-0 win against Lindbloom at number three singles. Junior Erika Leston beat William Jewell's Paula Peters, 6-3, 6-4, at the top position.
