Northwest comes up short against Nebraska-Kearney
ST. JOSEPH, Mo.-The Bearcat women's tennis team dropped its second-straight match with a 5-4 decision on Sunday against Nebraska-Kearney. Northwest Missouri State won 4-of-6 singles matches but were swept in doubles play.
Emily Hoffman didn't lose a single game in her match, winning 6-0 and 6-0. Alexis Bartek won 6-3 and 7-5. Sureena Weir was victorious 6-2, 3-6 and 10-6 and Ashleigh Kaberline won her match 6-3 and 6-1.
All three of Northwest's (0-2) doubles teams played well but couldn't get over the hump against the Lopers (2-3). Erika Leston and Bartek lost 8-5, Weir and Hoffman were defeated 8-6 and the team of Kaberline and Leslee Feldhaus were beaten 8-4.
The Bearcats travel to St. Louis for a pair of matches along with the men's team. Northwest will face Washington University at 3 p.m. on Friday and will play Missouri-St. Louis at 10 on Saturday morning.
