Bearcats Defeat UNO, Clinch Regular Season Title
OMAHA, Neb.-The Northwest Missouri State women's tennis team clinched a share of the MIAA regular season title Tuesday night with its 5-4 win over Nebraska-Omaha. The Bearcats improved to 14-6 overall and 6-0 in the MIAA. Northwest can clinch an out-right title with a win Wednesday night at Missouri Western.
The win is the Bearcats' ninth in a row this season. Senior Lisa Pendrak clinched the win for Northwest has she won the final singles match of the evening 6-3, 4-6 and 7-6. Veronica Castilla, Sureena Weir and Lindsay Weideman also picked-up singles match victories for the Bearcats.
The doubles duo of Pendrak and Castilla gave the Bearcats their lone doubles victory of the match, winning 8-2 over UNO's Traci Moklestad and Kelsey Haas.
Northwest finishes the regular season against Missouri Western on Wednesday afternoon and will travel to the MIAA Championships on Saturday in Kansas City. This was the first time the MIAA has recognized a regular season champion. The Bearcats have won 10 previous MIAA tournament titles.
