Northwest Pushes Win Streak to Four
Northwest Missouri State's women's tennis team had little trouble in dispensing future MIAA foe Lincoln Friday on the Frank Grube Courts. The 41st-ranked Bearcats swept three doubles matches and didn't drop a set in singles play to earn their second 9-0 win of the season.
The win moves Northwest to 9-6 overall. The Bearcats have won four in a row.
The most competitive doubles match came from the one position as Northwest's Erika Leston and Emily Hoffman doubled up Raffaella Sangalli and Shelby Penno 8-4. Northwest won 8-0 and 8-1 and number two and three doubles, respectively.
Brittney Browning defeated Iuesha Wright, 6-3, 6-0, at number five singles to earn her seventh straight win. Veronica Castilla and Lindsay Weidemann dropped just three games in earning straight-set wins at number three and four singles, respectively. Leston defeated Sangalli at the top spot 6-3, 7-6.
The Bearcats improved to 4-0 at home this season. The team returns to MIAA play Saturday with a dual against Emporia State in Emporia, Kan.
