Northwest Defeats Southwest Baptist, 2-0 in MIAA

BOLIVAR, Mo.-No. 41 Northwest Missouri State defeated Southwest Baptist 6-3 Thursday afternoon in women's tennis action, improving its mark to 8-6 overall and 2-0 in the MIAA.

The Bearcats went 4-2 in singles competition as Veronica Castilla and Sureena Weir each improved to 9-4 on the season. Castilla won 6-3, 7-5, while Weir was victorious 6-4 and 6-2. Lindsay Weideman and Brittney Browning also picked up straight-set victories for Northwest in the match.

Northwest would take two-of-three in doubles competition as Castilla and Lisa Pendrak defeated Sarah Sentlinger and Johanna Olsson 9-7. Browning and Weir would go on to beat Crystal Guiot and Jenna Hendrickson 8-5 for the Bearcats' second doubles victory.

The Bearcats will continue conference action as they travel to Topeka, Kan., on April 7 to face Washburn at 3:30 p.m.
