No. 14 St. Edward's Tops Northwest
DALLAS, Texas-The 14th-ranked Hilltoppers of St. Edward's earned a 5-1 decision against the 44th-ranked Northwest Missouri State Bearcats Sunday as Northwest continues its Spring Break trip to Texas. The Bearcats, now 5-3, will look to rebound Monday against Dallas Baptist.
Northwest's point came from Veronica Castilla, who earned a 6-0, 2-6, 7-6 decision against Mary Bain at number three singles. The win moves Castilla to 5-1 in singles play during the spring season.
The dual started with the six singles matches but ended when the Hilltoppers top doubles tandem, Paige Rachel and Audrey Tompkins, earned an 8-2 win against Erika Leston and Emily Hoffman. Northwest's Brittney Browning and St. Edward's Caryn McGraw were tied at a set a piece at the six position when play ended.
