Nationally-Ranked Drury Stops Northwest
SPRINGFIELD, Mo.-No. 19 Drury swept through three doubles matches in convincing fashion and kept its foot on the gas in singles play to sweep No. 44 Northwest Missouri State 9-0 Sunday at Cooper Tennis Complex. It's the Bearcats' first 9-0 loss in five years.
Northwest was without the services of number three singles player and number two doubles player Veronica Castilla and the Panthers took full advantage. Drury didn't surrender a set in six singles matches and lost five games combined in three doubles matches.
The loss drops Northwest to 3-2 while Drury improved to 6-0. The Bearcats next host Nebraska-Kearney Monday at 3 p.m. in Maryville.
