MARYVILLE, Mo.-Northwest Missouri State senior tennis player Jordan Lipira climbed the list of all three career program charts Wednesday, including a passing of her sister, Sara, for fourth place on the all-time doubles win list.
Lipira teamed with Veronica Castilla to earn an 8-5 win at No. 2 doubles and beat Sydnee Mela in straight sets in singles play to help lead the Bearcats to a 7-2 win. It's the seventh win for Northwest in its last eight matches.
Lipira has won 74 doubles matches and 68 singles matches in her four-year career. She's now eighth on the list for all-time singles wins and her total of 142 is tied for the fifth-highest number of victories in program history. Lipira is 17-5 in singles play and 11-4 in doubles play this season.
Erika Leston won her 14th consecutive singles match and moved to 21-1 following a 6-0, 6-0 win against Ann Lewis. Leston's lone loss this season came against Abilene Christian's Jaclyn Walker back on October 3. Walker is currently the 11th-ranked singles player in the region.
Lina Gomez and Brittney Browning won 12 of 13 games in earning wins at No. 1 and No. 6 singles, respectively. Gomez teamed with Allison Wulff to earn an 8-0 win at No. 3 doubles. Northwest (11-3) won two doubles matches and five singles matches to earn the win.
