Bearcats Win Fourth Straight in 7-2 Victory Against Washburn

TOPEKA, Kan. – The No. 31 Northwest Missouri State women’s tennis team became the lone undefeated team in MIAA play with a 7-2 victory against No. 29 Washburn today. The Bearcats (15-3, 5-0) won three singles matches in straight sets for the fourth straight win of the season.

Senior Kristina Vucenov, the ninth-ranked singles player in the nation, won her 16th straight singles match with a 3-6, 6-4, 10-7 win against No. 48 Diana Goldsmith. Today’s win moves Vucenov into second in all-time season victories with 24.

Vucenov paired with sophomore Veronica Castilla for an 8-3 win against Lauren Harris and Rachel Stevens at No. 2 doubles. It’s the sixth straight win for the duo this season.

Juniors Jordan Lipira and Lina Gomez moved to 15-1 at No. 3 doubles in an 8-0 shutout of Audrie Miller and Allie Gardner.

Northwest stays on the road for a match with Missouri Southern April 11 at 3 p.m.
