
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Bearcat women’s tennis team won six singles sets in 6-0 shutouts and won two doubles matches by 8-0 scores to claim a 8-1 victory against Ouachita Baptist today. Northwest (1-2) dropped its first match of the day to Central Oklahoma 5-4 in Springfield, Mo.
Lina Gomez and Jordan Lipira remain undefeated at No. 3 doubles after an 8-0 shutout of Ouachita Baptist’s Annie Gerber and Whitney Noschell. The two added singles victories against the Tigers at No. 3 and No. 4 singles play.
Kristina Vucenov, the No. 9 singles player in national rankings, won her first match of the season at No. 1 singles, defeating Marianna Divardin of Ouachita Baptist 6-0, 6-0.
Vucenov and Veronica Castilla went 2-0 at No. 2 doubles, allowing only three points between both matches.
Up Next: The next action for the Bearcats will be at the RMAC/MIAA Invitational in Topeka, Kan., March 7-8. Northwest begins the invitational with a match against Metropolitan State at noon March 7.
