MARYVILLE, Mo. – The Northwest Missouri State women’s basketball team will head to Nebraska-Kearney for their final road test of the season after clinching a spot in the MIAA tournament this past weekend.
Northwest has two games left on their regular schedule and the MIAA tournament is just around the corner. Washburn and Central Missouri have already secured a first round bye with the three and four seeds still up for grabs. The top four seeds receive byes as seeds 5-8 will host 9-12. Northwest is currently ranked 10th in the MIAA standings.
UNK and Northwest have only played four times in the series history and both teams have claimed two victories. Northwest won the last meeting in 2010 81-75.
Annie Mathews is coming off a career night against Missouri Western that saw her post 21 points and grab 12 rebounds in the process for her seventh double-double of the season. Mathews has been in double digit points in eight of her last 11 games.
Head Coach Mark Kellogg is looking to snap a four game road losing streak as his team heads to Nebraska-Kearney (6-17, 3-13) for a 5:30 p.m. tip off. The Bearcats will return home for their final game of the season, March 2 to take on Truman State (19-5, 12-4) for a 1:30 p.m. tip off at Bearcat Arena.
