Northwest hosts Winstead-Reeves Classic

MARYVILLE, Mo. – Coming off their second win of the season Northwest Missouri State women’s basketball team looks ahead to this weekend’s Winstead-Reeves Classic Friday and Saturday where they will host Southwest Minnesota State and William Jewell.

The Bearcats, under first year Head Coach Mark Kellogg, have started the season 2-0 after Tuesday’s 93-50 win over Tabor College.

The classic will consist of four teams; Northwest (2-0), William Jewell (0-1), SW Minnesota State (0-2) and Missouri Valley (2-2).

The Classic kicks off Friday at 5:30 p.m. with game one between Missouri Valley and William Jewell. Game two will pit Northwest against SW Minnesota State, which is set for 7 p.m.

Saturday will have Missouri Valley facing off against SW Minnesota State in the early game at 4 p.m.

The Bearcats will take on William Jewell in the night cap scheduled for a 6 p.m. start.

After two games Meridee Scott leads the Bearcats with 29 points and five steals. Tember Schechinger tops Northwest with 11 rebounds and is averaging 11.5 ppg heading into the Winstead-Reeves Classic.
