Bearcats to take on Southwest Baptist

MARYVILLE, Mo. – Northwest Missouri State women's basketball team continues MIAA play Tuesday night as they travel to Bolivar, Mo. to take on the Southwest Baptist Bearcats. Tip from Meyer Sports Center is slated for 5:30 p.m.
Northwest takes a 5-21 overall record and 3-15 conference record into the matchup against the Bearcats of Southwest Baptist. The Bearcats have currently lost two straight, including a 66-56 home loss to the Central Missouri Jennies this past Saturday.
In the loss, senior guard Shelly Martin went 3-of-6 from behind the three-point line to lead all players with 19. Martin hit her third three-pointer to just beat the buzzer and close out the first half. The trey also marked her 203rd three-pointer, an all-time record at Northwest passing Kelli Nelson's mark set in 2008.
The Bearcats currently have one player scoring in double figures. Senior guard, Abby Henry, averages 12.8 points per game Martin comes in at just below the double-digit mark contributing 9.5 points per game.
Freshman post Maggie Marnin leads the team in rebounding pulling down 6.0 rebounds per game while also chipping in 7.1 points per game.
Northwest is currently pacing the MIAA in steals averaging 10.9 steals per game as a team. Henry is pacing Northwest with 56 steals on the season and ranks third in the MIAA averaging 2.4 steals per game while Martin is averaging 2.2 steals per game.
The Southwest Baptist Bearcats are coming off of a 78-71 loss at the hands of the Fort Hays State Tigers. Southwest Baptist is currently 9-15 overall and 4-14 in conference play.
Brittney Dukes is leading the purple Bearcats offensively averaging 13.4 points per game.
Northwest leads the series with Southwest Baptist 29-21.
The Bearcats will conclude the 2011-12 regular season Saturday when they host the Missouri Southern Lions.
