Bearcats to travel to Truman State

MARYVILLE, Mo. – Northwest Missouri State women's basketball team continues MIAA play Wednesday night when they travel to Kirksville, Mo., to take on the Truman State Bulldogs. Tip from Pershing Arena is slated for 5:30 p.m.
Northwest takes a 5-19 overall record and 3-13 conference record into the matchup against the Bulldogs. The Bearcats are still in the hunt for the MIAA tournament as they are only one game behind Missouri Western at 4-12 who holds onto the eighth and final spot for March’s post-season tournament in Kansas City.
The Bearcats are coming off of an exciting 72-71 overtime win over MIAA rival Missouri Western in which they snapped a seven game losing streak.
Northwest currently has one player scoring in double figures, senior guard Abby Henry. Henry is averaging 12.9 points per game while senior guard Shelly Martin comes in at just below the double-digit mark contributing 9.4 points per game.
Freshman post, Maggie Marnin, leads the team in rebounding pulling down 6.0 rebounds per game while also chipping in 6.8 points per game.
Northwest is currently pacing the MIAA in steals averaging 11.0 steals per game as a team. Henry ranks third in the MIAA averaging 2.4 steals per game while Martin ranks fourth in the MIAA averaging 2.2 steals per game.
The Bulldogs are coming off of a 77-55 nonconference win over McKendree University. Truman State sits at 13-9 overall and 7-9 in conference play.
Becka McHenry is leading the Bulldogs offensively averaging 14.4 points per game while also dishing out 4.8 assists per game.
Northwest leads the all-time series with Truman State 52-12. The Bearcats have won the last five meetings against the Bulldogs.
Northwest will continue MIAA play Saturday when they host the Central Missouri Jennies. Tip is set for 1:30 p.m. from Bearcat Arena
