Curtis, Roehrig named to all-region team
MARYVILLE, Mo.-Northwest Missouri State senior guard Gabby Curtis and senior center Kyla Roehrig were named to the Daktronics all-South Central regional first-team as voted on by the region's sports information directors.
Curtis was named the MIAA's Player of the Year this season and was a unanimous first-team all-MIAA selection after leading the league in scoring with 18 points per game. Curtis has scored in double figures in all but one game this season. She has 10 games of 20-points scored or more and three efforts of 30-plus. Curtis was fourth in the region in scoring, sixth in three-pointers made and ninth in assists per game.
Roehrig was also a first-team all-MIAA selection for Northwest and the conference's Defensive Player of the Year. Roehrig set the program record for blocks in a season this year with 83 (2.9 bpg). Roehrig averages 14.2 points per game and is second in the region with 11.3 rebounds per contest. Her 55 percent shooting from the field is third-best in the region. Roehrig has 13 double-doubles on the season and 19 games with 10-plus rebounds.
Northwest is the second seed in the South Central region and will play seventh-seeded Texas Woman's University at 2:30 p.m. on Friday in Tahlequah, Okla.
