Northwest Downed at Southwest Baptist

BOLIVAR, Mo.-Northwest Missouri State fell Tuesday night on the road to Southwest Baptist 89-76. Candace Boeh led the Bearcats with a career-high 12 points. Boeh also grabbed four rebounds and had a steal.

Shelly Martin also had 12 points on 4-of-8 shooting. Gabby Curtis added nine points and Abby Henry had seven to go along with seven rebounds and three assists. Gentry Dietz, the MIAA's leading rebounder and fourth-leading scorer came into the night's game battling an injury. Dietz played just eight minutes, had two block, two rebounds and didn't attempt a shot from the floor.

Southwest Baptist out-shot Northwest 52 percent to 36 percent. The "purple" Bearcats also hit 11-of-26 three-point attempts and dished out 22 assists. Southwest Baptist led by 20 points at halftime, 49-29 and led by as many as 29 points in the second half.

Chasity Prince led six Southwest Baptist players in double-figures with a game-high 15. Prince also added six rebounds in the win.

Northwest (12-14, 8-11 MIAA) will close out the regular season at home on Saturday against Missouri Southern. Tip is set for 12:30 p.m. rather than the normal start time of 1:30 p.m. on Saturday's. The men will follow at 2:30 p.m. Northwest won the first matchup this season in Joplin 75-67. Henry led the Bearcats with 27 points, Shelly Martin added 16 back in January in the victory.
