Missouri Western 67, Northwest Missouri State 54
ST. JOSEPH, Mo.-Northwest Missouri State took a five-point lead into halftime, but scored a season-low 20 points in the second half in a 67-54 loss to Missouri Western Wednesday at MWSU Fieldhouse.
The Griffons (4-9, 2-5 MIAA) opened the second half with a 17-3 run that spanned more than eight minutes. Northwest made eight field goals and shot no free throws in the second half.
Gentry Dietz (20) and Gabby Curtis (17) combined to score 37 points for the Bearcats (6-7, 2-4), but 26 came in the first half and Northwest couldn't establish a third scorer. The rest of the Bearcats combined to shoot 6-of-27 from the field.
Lauren Nolke scored 20 points and Jessica Koch had 13 points and 10 rebounds for the Griffons, who shot 49 percent from the floor. Nolke was 4-of-5 from behind the arc and accounted for half of Missouri Western's eight treys.
