Curtis Scores 19 in Northwest's Victory Over Missouri Valley
MARYVILLE, Mo.-Gabby Curtis had a career-high 19 points to lead all scorers in Northwest Missouri State's 76-45 victory over Missouri Valley Friday in Bearcat Arena in the first night of the Winstead-Reeves Classic. Curtis also led the Bearcats with eight rebounds, five steals and four assists. Gentry Dietz added 15 points and five boards. Emily Hauder chipped in with eight points and four rebounds.
The Bearcats would hold Missouri Valley to just two field goals in the final 10:30 of the game, in which Northwest went on a 21-8 run. The Bearcats also went on a 20-7 run to end the first half.
Northwest shot 43 percent as 14 Bearcats scored in the victory and added 40 points off of 36 Missouri Valley turnovers. Missouri Valley went just 7-of-21 from the free throw line and shot 40 percent. Jean Dooley led the Vikings with 11 points.
Northwest (2-0) will play its second game of the Winstead-Reeves Classic tomorrow evening at 7:30 p.m. against William Jewell. William Jewell defeated William Penn 74-52 in the early game on Friday.
