Meghan Nelson has been the assistant coach at Northwest Missouri State since the summer of 2010. She arrived in Maryville by way of University of Sioux Falls in South Dakota where served two seasons as an assistant under Travis Traphagen. Together, they led the Cougars to back-to-back 18-win seasons.
Prior to Sioux Falls, Nelson attended Southwest Minnesota State University where she completed a five-year playing and coaching career. Nelson played two seasons for the Mustangs before transitioning to the coaching staff. As a student assistant, Nelson coached fundamentals and position work, helped with recruiting and coordinated summer camps.
Nelson is a fixture in the Christian community. As a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) at Sioux Falls, she prepared and delivered speeches for weekly gatherings and served as a counselor for various FCA sports camps.
Nelson is a native of Thief River Falls, Minn. She earned her bachelor's degree in business administration with an emphasis in finance from SMSU and her master's degree in business administration at Sioux Falls.
