Jennies Down Bearcats 72-48 at the Multi
WARRENSBURG, Mo. - Jessica Burton led Northwest Missouri State in scoring for the fifth time in the last six games as the Bearcats (8-17, 4-14 MIAA) lost a 72-48 contest to Central Missouri (16-9, 11-7 MIAA) today at the UCM Multipurpose Building. Burton scored 13 points for her sixth straight game with 10 or more points and grabbed a team-high six rebounds.
Meghan Brue finished with eight points and moved past Sandy Nelson into 13th in career scoring records with 1,236. She also led the Bearcats with three steals today to increase her career total to 124, three short of tying Marla Sapp for ninth in career records.
Micaela Uriell scored 11 points and shot greater than 50 percent from the field (four-of-six) for the first time since the first game against Central Missouri this season Jan. 14.
Central Missouri jumped to an 11-2 first half lead within the frst six minutes and enjoyed a 43-19 halftime advantage. The Jennies maintained the lead as the two teams matched the other with 29 second-half points.
Up Next: Northwest closes out the 2009 home schedule Feb. 25 against Southwest Baptist. The Bearcats will honor its four seniors prior to the 5:30 p.m. contest.
