Three Score in Double Figures in Loss to Missouri Western
ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - Meghan Brue led Northwest in scoring for the 10th time this season with 16 points as the Bearcats (7-16, 3-13 MIAA) dropped a 94-65 game to rival Missouri Western (5-18, 5-12 MIAA) tonight in the MWSU Fieldhouse. Brue also grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.
Micaela Uriell scored seven of the team's first 11 points en route to 10 points and her third straight game with double-digit points. Uriell shot four-of-seven from the field in the first half, including two-of-three from the three-point line, and made a team-high four assists by halftime. She added another assist in the second half to match her career best.
Jessica Burton scored 14 points, 11 in the second half, for her fourth straight game with 10 or more points. She also made a pair of steals for her third straight game with multiple steals.
After missing practice this week because of illness, Rickeya McElroy stepped on the court for a brief appearance and managed to pick up her 35th block this season, grab three rebounds and score two points. McElroy has blocked at least one shot in eight of her last nine games.
All five Missouri Western starters scored in double figures, led by 24 from sophomore forward Rachel Luteyn. Jessica Koch scored 16 points and made 10 assists for the MIAA's first points-assists double-double this season.
Up Next: Northwest returns home to host Truman Feb. 18. The Bulldogs lost 73-46 to Nebraska-Omaha at home earlier today.
