MARYVILLE, Mo. - A meeting with Missouri Southern marks the halfway point of the MIAA schedule when Northwest Missouri State (6-10, 2-7 MIAA) welcomes the Lions (12-4, 6-3 MIAA) for a 5:30 p.m. matchup Wednesday night. It's the start of a three-game homestand for the Bearcats.

Missouri Southern enters with a three-game winning streak which started with a 58-57 win against then-No. 3 Washburn Jan. 10. Northwest has lost the last three games by a combined 10 points.

The Bearcats have won five of the last six games against the Lions since 2003 and have won the last two games, including an overtime win to advance to the semifinals of the 2008 MIAA tournament.

Meghan Brue enters Wednesday night with an MIAA-leading 15-game double-digit scoring streak. She has recorded a double-double in the last three home games and is sixth in the conference in scoring and third in rebounding. She needs a pair of steals to move into a tie for 10th in program career records.

Wednesday night will be a matchup of the league's top teams in defending the three-point shot. Missouri Southern leads the MIAA with .284 while Northwest fell to second with .290 after Southwest Baptist shot 40 percent last Saturday.

Rickeya McElroy scored a career-high 25 points against the purple Bearcats for her third game this season with 20 or more points. She's averaging 18.3 points in the last three games.

McElroy is also averaging 1.62 blocks per game, good for sixth among MIAA players. The entire Missouri Southern team is averaging 1.38 per game. A pair of blocks from McElroy will increase her season total to 28 blocks and tie her for fifth in season records with Dena McMullen.

Micaela Uriell has reached double-digit points and made three or more three-pointers in four of the last five games. She's averaging 13.4 points and shooting 45.2 percent from the three-point line in that span, which started with a career-best 21 points and five three-pointers against Pittsburg State Dec. 31.

The Bearcats' injury woes will lessen with the return of Abby Henry to the lineup Wednesday night. Henry missed the Central Missouri game Jan. 14 with a hamstring and played nine minutes against Southest Baptist Jan. 17, but is expected to regain significant playing time against Missouri Southern. Amber Vandevender, who started 13 games this season as the point guard before leaving with injury against Missouri Western Jan. 7, is questionable for Wednesday night.
