MARYVILLE, Mo. - The chance to extend its home winning streak to five games awaits Northwest Missouri State (6-8, 2-5 MIAA) when they welcome Central Missouri (10-4, 5-2 MIAA) for a 5:30 p.m. game Wednesday night in Bearcat Arena.

A win would be the longest home winning streak for Northwest since a six-game streak from Nov. 15-Dec. 4, 2006. The Bearcats are one of three MIAA teams who have not lost a conference game on their home court this season (the others being Nebraska-Omaha and Fort Hays State).

Northwest has won four of the last five games against Central Missouri when playing in Bearcat Arena, compared to an opposite mark when playing the Jennies in Warrensburg, Mo.

Meghan Brue will be trying to extend her double-digit scoring streak to 14 games. The senior has the longest active streak in the conference and is eighth in MIAA statistics with 14.6 points per game. She's also listed among the conference leaders in rebounds, field-goal percentage, steals and defensive rebounds. She needs five steals to reach 119 career steals and tie Patty Painter for 10th in career records.

The Bearcats regained their composure at the free-throw line against Truman last Saturday, hitting nine-of-10 to improve their season percentage to 74.9. Northwest has hit better than 70 percent in 11 of its 14 games, a mark equaled in the conference only by No. 9 Emporia State.

Rickeya McElroy can also move up program records with one or two blocked shots. She stands ninth in season records with 22 and needs one to tie Danae Wagner for eighth and two to tie Sarah Hemminger for seventh. McElroy's 1.57 average is sixth among MIAA players and is greater than Missouri Southern's team total this season (1.4/game).

Northwest is leading the MIAA in three-point percentage defense (.277), and will need it as Central Missouri leads the league with 8.79 three-pointers per game.

Head Coach Gene Steinmeyer is making his way closer to career win No. 500. He stands at 497 and is the seventh winningest coach among active Division II coaches.

Scouting the Jennies
Kara Fleming leads Central Missouri with 12.1 points per game and leads the MIAA with 5.5 assists per game. She is the younger sister of Scott Fleming, who was a three-time All-MIAA performer for Northwest from 2000-03.

The Jennies have an easier schedule in front of them, as their next three opponents are a combined 3-19 in the conference schedule.

A win for Head Coach David Slifer will move him closer to becoming the MIAA's all-time winningest coach. He needs eight to tie, nine to break, the record of 296 held by Pittsburg State's Steve High (1997-2007). Slifer's daughter (Brittney) and son (D.J.) play basketball for Central Missouri.
