Turnovers Cost Bearcats in Loss to St. Cloud State
OMAHA, Neb. - Rickeya McElroy led Northwest with 15 points and a game-high seven rebounds as the Bearcats (3-2) suffered a 73-55 loss to St. Cloud State in the Nebraska-Omaha Thanksgiving Classic. The Huskies remain undefeated and improve to 4-0.
St. Cloud State used an eight-point run midway through the first half to open an 18-11 lead with 10:53 remaining. Rachel Booth led the Huskies at the half with 12 points and five rebounds.
St. Cloud State took a 35-26 lead into the break and never trailed in the second half. Booth added to her halftime totals and lead all players with 19 points and went seven-of-10 from the field. She added a game-high four steals and led the Huskies with six rebounds.
The Northern Sun's top stealing team made 13 steals and forced another 12 Northwest turnovers in the contest.
McElroy finished in double figures for the third straight games to lead three Bearcats with 10 or more points. Shelly Martin made 12 points off the bench and went five-of-seven from the field while Meghan Brue made 11 and added five rebounds.
