Mandi Schumacher Named MIAA Player of the Week
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Northwest Missouri State senior center Mandi Schumacher was named MIAA Women's Basketball Player of the Week today. It's the first such honor for Schumacher in her career.
Schumacher led the Bearcats in scoring last week, scoring 21 points in both games. She went seven-of-seven from the field in the first half against Missouri Southern Jan. 16, scoring 17 of her 21 points by halftime. She finished one rebound short of a double-double while also blocking one shot.
Schumacher scored the first eight points for Northwest against Pittsburg State, leading the Bearcats to a 95-65 victory against the Gorillas. She scored 21 points for the second straight game, reaching the 20-point mark for the sixth time in the last nine games.
Northwest travels to Kirksville, Mo., Jan. 23, for a 5:30 p.m. game with the Bulldogs. The Bearcats are 5-1 in MIAA play, the best start since 2003-04.
