Northwest Jumps on Bus for Omaha Trip
MARYVILLE -- The Northwest Missouri State women's basketball team heads to Omaha, Neb. for a meeting with Nebraska-Omaha on Dec. 14 at 6 p.m. The Mavericks are 8-1 and have won three in-a-row. Their only loss came to MIAA foe Central Missouri on Nov. 30, dropping a 70-56 decision.
Alyssa Green, who was named to North Central Conference (NCC) Player of the Week on Dec. 10, leads the Mavericks with 15.6 points per game and 7.2 rebounds per game. The Mavericks show depth as 10 players average more than 10 minutes per game and have outrebounded their opponents 406 to 315.
It will be the 23rd overall meeting between Northwest and Nebraska-Omaha with the Bearcats leading the series 12-10. Northwest won the last meeting, 67-65, on a last second lay-up by Megan Blay on Dec. 11, 2004. Now senior, then freshman, Mandi Schumacher poured in 16 points off the bench.
