Bearcats Cannot Overcome Tech's 11-0 Run
RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - The Northwest Missouri State women's basketball team dropped a non-conference game 87-68 to Arkansas Tech. An Andrea Dill jumper gave Northwest a 40-39 lead to start the second half, but Arkansas Tech would counter with an 11-0 run and never look back.
The Bearcats would not get any closer than six points, after the Golden Sun's 11-0 run to begin the second half, and were outscored 48-30. The Bearcats led most of the first half, getting all of her 11 points from Kelli Nelson in the period.
The loss drops Northwest to 4-2 and its the seventh straight victory for Arkansas Tech.
Megan Brue poured in 19 points, hitting 7-of-8 free-throws, to lead the Bearcats. Lauren Williams added 13 points, shooting 3-of-6 from beyond the arc.
Defensively, the Bearcats struggled to contain Amanda Grappe. The junior had a game-high 34 points and shot 11-of-15 from the field. As a team, Tech shot 55.1 percent from the field hitting the same amount of free-throw as field goals, 27.
Northwest will battle Nebraska-Omaha next Friday, Dec. 14 in Omaha at 6 p.m.
