MARYVILLE -- The Northwest Missouri State women's basketball team is off to a 4-0 start for a third consecutive season, but will face its biggest challenge yet when Northwest hosts South Dakota Wednesday, Nov. 28 at 6 p.m.
The Coyotes are 3-1 and received 46 votes in the national USA Today/ESPN/WBCA Preseason Poll. South Dakota is led by a set of twins, Jeana and Jenna Hoffman. Jeana was awarded North Central Conference (NCC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week and is averaging 22.8 points per game, shooting 55.2 percent from the field. Her sister, Jenna, averages just eight points per game, but leads the team in steals and assists.
It will be the tenth overall meeting between the Coyotes and Bearcats with South Dakota holding a 5-4 edge. Northwest traveled to Vermillion, S.D. last season and dropped a 75-48 decision. Meghan Brue was the only Bearcat in double-digits as Northwest was held to its second lowest output of the 2006-07 season.
